Frederick University (FredU) is one of the recognised private Universities operating in the Republic of Cyprus. It is an energetic and vibrant university, enjoying respect and recognition both nationally and internationally. FredU offers a broad range of academic programmes of study in diverse areas such as, Science, Engineering, Business, Arts, Architecture, Media, Humanities, Health, and Education and has a strong focus on academic research, being one of the leading research organizations in the country. The University comprises of 5 Schools and 14 Departments and is recognized as the university that offers novel and innovative programs of study (more than 75) that address societal needs and, primarily, as the university that exhibits high social sensitivity and responsibility. FredU employs about 300 (fte) faculty, with 4500 students enrolled on average and operates from two campuses, in Nicosia and Limassol. FredU has also developed the necessary experience and e-learning infrastructure for offering accredited programs of study through Distance Learning. Recently, FredU has been awarded with the e-xcellence certification. By achieving the E-xcellence Associates in Quality label, Frederick University demonstrates that it offers quality controlled e-learning and keeps up to date with the latest developments. The label is provided by the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU), Europe’s leading institutional association in online, open and flexible Learning. The E-xcellence Associates are focusing on the improvement of four priority elements of progressive higher education: Accessibility, Flexibility, Interactiveness and Personalisation. The research initiatives and activities that are being carried out by its faculty, place the University among the most successful organizations in Cyprus with respect to the level of financial support received for projects from external sources through competitive national and European programs, including LLP, LIFE, FP7, H2020, ERASMUS+ and from Regional Funds. The Frederick University has 8 Schools from which we distinguish the School of Health. Within this context operates the Department of Life and Health Sciences that among others offers a BSc dedicated to Physical Education and Sports Science. The purpose of the Program "Physical Education and Sports Sciences" is to provide a high level academic education and applied knowledge for the vocational preparation of sports scientists and physical education teachers, in the area of Sports, Recreation and Health. Graduates will acquire educational skills that will enable them to successfully work in the private and public sector of exercise and sport services. The curriculum offers knowledge in the theory and practice of physical education and sports, and in fields such as training, rehabilitation, tourism, recreation and health, while encouraging the production of new knowledge. The Program "Physical Education and Sports Sciences" is in Greek and is located in Limassol.
